Posting website personal profile

Homeowners rightly expect honesty, commitment to the task, loving care of their pets, home security and to return to a home at least in the same condition in which they left it. To assist homeowners to initially make a choice of a sitter your personal profile and application email is very important. We recommend including:

Your names
Ages
Whether you are smokers or non smokers
Current work status
Previous experience
Comments from references
Offer to provide full references and contact details of past home owners
Whether you are prepared to care for pets and experience
Availability
How you can be contacted, e.g. mobile, SKYPE video call, email, text
Consider providing a photo

Some websites allow for a photograph to be included and we have now updated our profile with a photo of us.  This is entirely a personal option. By the number of direct email requests we have received it did not appear to have been a sticking point to not provide a photo as many other potential sitters now include a photo we decided to do so as well.  However some websites say you get twice the number of hits from prospective home owners if you provide a photograph - we cannot confirm or deny this statement.

We understand that some websites allow the inclusion of a short video. None of the websites we subscribe to allow for this. However, it is a great idea.

It is important to update your profile regularly. This will include any periods for which you are booked and perhaps the areas in which you would like to consider an assignment. An added advantage of updating your profile is that it is then moved to the top of the house sitters list again and you have more exposure to home owners looking for a sitter.

Take your time to read a number of house sitter profiles on line before writing your own. Don't copy one word for word but use them as an example of what you should include and remember to update regularly.
